Cagrilintide

GLP-1 / Amylin

A long-acting amylin analogue developed to enhance weight loss when combined with semaglutide.

Half-life
~7 days
Research dose
0.25–2.4mg/week
Frequency
Once weekly
Routes
SubQ injection

How it works

Activates amylin receptors (AMY1–3) in the hypothalamus and area postrema, slowing gastric emptying and reducing meal-time food intake. Complements GLP-1 agonists by engaging separate satiety pathways, producing additive appetite suppression beyond either agent alone.

Research uses

Weight loss research
GLP-1 combination protocols
Appetite suppression studies
Gastric motility research
Metabolic syndrome models

Research notes

Developed by Novo Nordisk and studied in combination with semaglutide under the name CagriSema. Phase 3 trials show up to ~25% body weight reduction — substantially beyond semaglutide monotherapy.

Amylin is a hormone co-secreted with insulin from pancreatic beta cells. Cagrilintide mimics its actions but with a half-life engineered for once-weekly dosing through fatty acid conjugation.

Storage

❄️Freeze lyophilized powder
🌡️Refrigerate once reconstituted
