Synthetic anxiolytic peptide derived from tuftsin — modulates the immune system and reduces anxiety.
Modulates GABA-A receptors (anxiolytic effect) and increases enkephalins. Stimulates expression of IL-6 and interferon. Active metabolites include tuftsin which has immune-stimulating properties and extends the effective duration.
Also developed in Russia alongside Semax. Considered safer than benzodiazepines for anxiety research with no addiction potential observed in studies. No tolerance development has been reported in long-term research.
Often stacked with Semax for combined cognitive and anxiolytic effects. While Semax tends to be more activating and focus-oriented, Selank is more calming and anxiolytic. The combination is popular in nootropic research.
